The process of obtaining dental crowns in one day
With the latest technology, we can often complete your dental crown in one visit. This is a huge time-saver for you! This is accomplished with the use of our special CEREC device, which uses digital impressions of prepared teeth and CAD/CAM 3D software to mill a crown from a block of porcelain while patients wait in the dental chair. Below are the steps needed for same-day dental crowns:
- First, we prepare your tooth for the new crown. We remove any decay and prepare the tooth into a shape so that the new crown will fit snugly.
- Then, we take an impression of your teeth. This will allow the CEREC machine to create a custom dental crown that fits perfectly.
- Finally, the new dental crown made in less than 20 minutes is cemented in place. You’ll walk out of our office with a beautiful, new smile!
Are CEREC crowns any different than lab-created ones?
Outside of the fact that they are done in-office and eliminate the need for a ceramist, the dental crowns produced with CEREC are equal in quality to those that are fabricated in dental laboratories. We want to keep appointments short and simple, and CEREC allows patients in need of dental crowns to get back to school, work, and life without having to make additional visits to the office.
