Trick-Or-Treating Tooth Decay #Gallery57Dental #Halloween #trickortreat

We’re all looking forward to a spooktacular Halloween, filled with scary costumes and loads of candy. Once trick-or-treating is over, frighten away decay by brushing and flossing thoroughly!

Trick or treat? Last year, shoppers bought 90 million pounds of candy during Halloween week. Those treats can cause a whole lot of tricks to your dental health.

What happens to our teeth when we consume candy and forget to brush? The bacteria in the dental plaque on our teeth mixes with the sugar and creates acid. This acid attacks the outer layer of the tooth, called enamel, which over time causes our teeth to decay.

Treat yourself to a night of festivity and celebration this Halloween, keeping a few things in mind.
– Not all candy is created equal. Gummy treats and taffy can get stuck in the grooves of the teeth. Sour candies are high in acidity, which can break down tooth enamel.
– Chocolate and sugar free treats are alternatives that contain ingredients that promote dental health.
-After crunching and munching the night away, remember to brush and floss to keep your pearly whites healthy and clean!
