It was a tooth fairy’s nightmare. A team of oral surgeons removed 232 teeth from a Ashik Gavai, a 17 year old boy in India. He was diagnosed with a condition called odontoma, a rare type of tumor that affects the jaws or gums.
The patient was experiencing discomfort from a swelling for eighteen months. When the benign tumor was opened, the doctors found 232 little pearl like teeth. According to USA Today, Gavai isn’t out of the woods. Doctors say the condition could come back, especially if a tooth or fragment was left behind.
This case could make The Guinness World Of Records. Apparently the most teeth taken out of such a tumor was previously 37!
