Spiro Balaouras, D.D.S.

Dr. Spiro Balaouras received his Bachelor’s Degree in Biology in 1988 from New York University’s Washington Square and University College and his D.D.S. Degree in 1991 from New York University David B. Kriser Dental Center College of Dentistry. He combined his undergraduate and graduate studies at New York University by attending the University’s B.A. / D.D.S. Joint Degree Program (Seven Year Program). At the College of Dentistry, Dr. Balaouras was very active in student government, serving as Vice President and Accreditation Representative of his class, Student-Faculty Policy Planning Committee member, Freshman Orientation Steering Committee member, and Student Advisory Program member.
In 1992, Dr. Balaouras completed his postdoctoral study at The New York Hospital-Cornell Medical Center’s Department of Oral, Maxillofacial, and Dental Surgery (General Practice Residency), and for several years served as Assistant Attending Dentist within that department.
In an effort to provide dental care to New York City’s youth less likely to seek care, Dr. Balaouras worked for several years at The Children’s Aid Society Community School (I.S. 218) in Washington Heights. Dr. Balaouras is a current member of the following organizations: American Dental Association, New York State Dental Association, New York County Dental Society, and the Northeastern Gnathological Society.
Dr. Balaouras was born in a small town on Greece’s mainland, which he often visits with his family. He reads, writes, and speaks Greek fluently.
