Wake up and smell the coffee! Sipping a steaming cup of joe might help protect your teeth from periodontal disease. After studying 1,000 men for over 30 years, researchers found that those who drank one or more cups of coffee a day had fewer teeth with bone loss. Why? They believe the antioxidants in coffee might be the explanation.
FYI coffee is less acidic than many other common beverages, like fruit juices, sodas and energy drinks. According to a study in the British Journal Of Nutrition, all of those drinks, unlike coffee, were shown to weaken teeth’s protective enamel.
Wondering where the expression “cup of joe” comes from? We’ve all heard of the expression “average joe,” an ordinary kind of guy. Well coffee is the drink of the average, common man. Although there’s nothing average about that steaming, first morning cup of coffee!
